7‑Eleven was originally founded in 1927 in Dallas, Texas, as the Southland Ice Company, later renamed Southland Corporation in 1961 and then 7‑Eleven, Inc.. Today, it is fully owned by Seven-Eleven Japan, a subsidiary of Seven & I Holdings, a Japanese retail conglomerate. In Cambodia, the convenience stores are operated by CP ALL (Cambodia) Co., Ltd., an indirect subsidiary of Thailand’s CP All Public Company Limited, which holds exclusive area rights under franchise agreements. The first 7‑Eleven in Cambodia opened in Phnom Penh in 2021, with rapid expansion underway.
